“A Colorful, Stunning, Modern Indian-American Wedding in Downtown Sacramento at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel”

Being a part of and planning any wedding is always, a gift. However, being Rupi + Hitesh’s wedding planner was an extraordinary gift. To be fully immersed into their family and religious culture and traditions was an incredible experience! The week started with a Mendhi and Sangeet. Mendhi is a night full of fun, great good and where the bride gets her beautiful and intricate henna design for the wedding. This was amazing to watch Rupi adorned with henna and learn about all the little details. I loved that she included a little Kansas City logo as an ode to Hitesh’s favorite football team and hometown.

Guests who attended were also welcome to get henna done! It was so fun to be a part of the preparations for the bride. Following Mendhi, Rupi’s parent’s hosted a Sangeet at their home. The Sangeet celebrates the union of two families hosted with lots of food and dancing!! The dancing at the Sangeet was so fun and a night I will never forget! The design of this event was bright and playful with lots of pinks, golds, greens and oranges. We also use florals from her mom’s garden and included many decor pieces from their many trips to India!

Other events included a Haldi ceremony where each guest helped prepare Rupi for the wedding ceremony by rubbing turmeric on her. Some of my favorite pictures are from Haldi as it was such a moving experience to watch and be a part of! Following all the preparation events was a Sikh wedding ceremony at a temple in Roseville. Rupi and Hitesh were dressed in stunning traditional Indian outfits. They both looked like royalty for the wedding ceremony. Prior to the ceremony we also held a Barat. A barat is how the groom processes the wedding ceremony and is usually held like a big celebration! Lots of loud music, dhol drummers, and dancing to celebrate the groom!

To end the week, Rupi + Hitesh hosted an American modern wedding at the Kimpton Sawyer in downtown Sacramento. We hosted the event as a large-scale cocktail party! There were lots of passed appetizers, a great bar, amazing music and the most impressive cake spread! They also had the famous MirMir photobooth!!

As a wedding planner, my favorite part is the dance floor!! I have never seen a more poppin’ dance floor than Rupi + Hitesh’s! Their friends and family know how to party and it was especially fun having dhol drummers alongside the DJ! Rupi looked incredible in her BLHDN two piece wedding dress and the two danced and partied the night away with their loved ones. It’s an experience I will never forget and is always close to my heart!

Favorite Things:
