So I know I haven’t written in a while, and honestly it’s because up until last week there was no update. Mark and I took time to just enjoy our engagement. We didn’t rush into wedding planning mode, we enjoyed being with each other and celebrating with our family and close friends. But now, it’s go time. As I said before, Mark is a firefighter so getting married during “fire season” was out of the questions. That means June-November would not be an option for a wedding. So that meant we either get married this Spring or wait until next Winter. We both aren’t really patient people, so we decided to get married this May! First things first, we made our guest list and figured out our budget, this way we know what we are working with and what type of venue we need to find. After researching, researching, contacting, and contacting we finally chose a venue: The Old Sugar Mill. If you have not seen it yet, check it out, it is AMAZING! Since we are getting married in about two months, the next step was to order invites and of course find a dress (which I got from Enchanted Bridal)! Then I started contacting some of my favorite vendors. Photographer: Carmen Salazar, DJ: SJ’s Disc Jockey, Florist: Botanica Floral & Event Design, Hair & Make up: Jen Haupt I Make Beautiful.  I am beyond excited to have such an amazing team to be a part of our special day. Not only are these vendors perfectly awesome at what they do, but they are such great people. What a whirlwind this last week has been.

This is what is on my checklist for this week: firm up caterer, order linens and rental items, research hotels for out of town guests, and register (woo!!!). Stay tuned for another update coming soon!
