A Classic Fairytale in a Scottish Castle

;Sara and Josh’s love story unfolded like a dream, and their wedding was no exception. Owning a Curated by Grace and white, with several destinations wedding planners on her team, Sara and her team envisioned an intimate overseas celebration. The groom said Scotland was the perfect destination. Since they met in 2012, their running joke had always been about eloping to Scotland and living in a castle. When they got engaged in late 2022, they turned that dream into reality with a beautifully planned wedding at Drumtochty Castle in the hills of Aberdeen.

With just three months of planning, the wedding came together in March 2023. The intimate guest list included only 15 of their closest family and friends, making the occasion even more special. Josh’s family had always been in love with Scotland, and this wedding allowed them to share that passion with Sara’s loved ones.

A Wedding Weekend in Scotland

The celebration began with sightseeing in Edinburgh before the group traveled to Drumtochty Castle for a three-night stay. It wasn’t just about the wedding day—it was about an experience. Guests enjoyed a beautiful rehearsal dinner the night before, followed by the main event in the most breathtaking setting.

A Classic and Elegant Design

Sara’s vision for the wedding was simple, elegant, and timeless. She chose a strapless mikado ballgown by Trish Peng from Ellis Blake Bridal, complementing Josh’s classic black tux. The wedding was a black-tie affair, with every guest dressed in floor-length gowns and tuxedos.

The ceremony took place outdoors in a small courtyard, framed by a white door nestled into the hillside. As the couple exchanged vows, there was not a dry eye in sight. Afterward, a traditional bagpiper led the wedding party inside for cocktail hour in the castle’s gold room, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Dinner was held in the grand ballroom, where a single long table created an intimate yet regal atmosphere. White roses, textured linens, and custom floral menus from Shimmer + Stain elevated the setting, making it feel like a true fairytale.

Sara and Josh’s wedding was a perfect blend of history, romance, and elegance. From the castle’s grand architecture to the intimate moments shared among loved ones, every detail reflected their love story. It was more than just a wedding—it was an experience, one that their guests will never forget.
