Sacramento wedding planners often say that every wedding tells a one-of-a-kind story. Rupi and Hitesh’s week-long celebration was full of heart, rich in culture, and bursting with color. Their wedding beautifully blended meaningful Indian traditions with a modern American twist in downtown Sacramento at the Kimpton Sawyer.

A Week Full of Tradition, Joy, and Family

The festivities began with a joyful Mendhi night, where Rupi received her intricate henna designs. It was amazing to watch her adorned with beautiful detail—including a tiny Kansas City logo as a nod to Hitesh’s hometown and favorite football team. Guests also had the chance to get henna, adding to the fun and festive atmosphere.

Following Mendhi, Rupi’s family hosted a vibrant Sangeet at their home. There was dancing, music, and incredible food. The colorful décor featured bold pinks, oranges, golds, and greens, with floral touches from her mother’s garden and accents collected during their travels to India. It was playful, meaningful, and full of energy.

Ceremonies Rooted in Tradition

Rupi’s Haldi ceremony was a beautiful and emotional experience. Family and friends lovingly covered her with turmeric paste, preparing her for marriage with heartfelt blessings. The photos from this ceremony are some of our favorites—pure joy and connection.

Next came the Sikh wedding ceremony at a Roseville temple. Rupi and Hitesh looked like royalty in their traditional attire. Before the ceremony, Hitesh participated in a lively Barat, with dhol drummers and high-energy dancing that set the tone for the day.

A Modern Celebration at the Kimpton Sawyer

After a week of rich cultural traditions, the final event was a modern American wedding reception at the Kimpton Sawyer in downtown Sacramento. Designed as a large-scale cocktail party, the evening included passed appetizers, an impressive cake display, a full bar, and the always-popular MirMir photobooth. It felt fresh, fun, and sophisticated all at once.

The dance floor was the highlight of the night. With dhol drummers playing alongside the DJ, the energy was incredible. Rupi stunned in her two-piece BHLDN wedding dress, and the two of them danced all night with their loved ones. Their friends and family brought the party, no one wanted it to end.

The cultural events like Mendhi, Sangeet, and Haldi were incredibly powerful. Each one held deep meaning and brought people together in the most beautiful ways.

Rupi and Hitesh’s style was flawless throughout the week. From their traditional wedding attire to Rupi’s modern reception look, they turned heads at every turn.
